Aspiring Avalanche Dogs Inc is a non-profit organization a a registered charity. A New Zealand first, we are based near Wanaka at Treble Cone ski area. Aspiring Avalanche Dogs has the full support of the NZ Police, the Department of Conservation, the Mountain Safety Council and NZLandSAR with whom we are all volunteers for and whose training guidelines and standards we follow as an organisation.
We aim to provide the Alpine community of the Southern Lakes Region with a primary response avalanche search dog service, able to be rapidly deployed 24 hours a day, 7 days per week and 252 days of the year, well into the future.

Our primary goal is to save lives, and with more and more people enjoying the amazing terrain of Treble Cone and the backcountry we have to offer in our region we believe that this goal will be realized in time. Whether it is through our educational program or by one of our teams on site we are proud to have this opportunity to be of service as we start our journey towards being world leaders in our field.
Being a non-profit organization we rely heavily on sponsorship, donations and fundraising initiatives. Without the generosity and support of companies within the industry and individuals within the community, we wouldn’t be able to operate let alone fulfill our goals for the future. Some of our plans include purchasing a custom made dog-rig and a skidoo, both of which will enable us to transport the dogs around Treble Cone and to site safely. We wish to have our own vehicle and one day our own operations building and educational facility at the top of the main chairlift at Treble Cone.
